Why I am running
After 20 years as a teacher and 10 as a principal (19 years with Santa Fe Public Schools at all grade levels, preK to 12), I have decided to run for the District 5 position on the Santa Fe School Board. I have learned how important it is that students, parents, teachers, and school administrators and staff feel supported and valued so that our learning environments nurture every student’s academic growth and personal well-being. I hope my experience can assist the school board in making decisions that prioritize the classroom interactions between students and teachers, attract highly qualified teachers that our students deserve, and continue to strengthen our district for the benefit of our entire community.
On a personal note, I would be following in the footsteps of my father and uncles who served on the school board where I went to public school in New York. They made a difference in my educational journey and I hope I can do the same for students in Santa Fe.
Though many people know me as “Jack”, my formal name, “Jakob”, will be on the ballot.
